Drawing Instruments

Modern day technical drawings are produced using CAD or computer-aided drafting however there was a time in the not so distant past when technical and engineering drawings were constructed by hand using tools like bow compasses, adjustable triangles, parallel rules, and protractors.

Often people describe engineering as “the application of science and technology to solve problems” which is accurate but engineering is so much more exciting! While the roots of engineering are in infastructure, engineers today work in nearly every industry. These are not only the people creating new technologies but they are also on the forefront of improving the technologies that make our lives better. Whether developing new applications to deliver medicines or creating code that allows vehicles to drive themselves or designing new technologies to clean up polluted waterways, engineers can be found working on solutions to the world’s biggest challenges.
